Least Favorite Physical Activity??

Wednesday, November 06, 2013

At my age and with my many aches and pains, I would have to say that my least favorite physical activity would be running. I see people running in the neighborhood, hear of those who have run in marathons and I think "how can they do that?" If I didn't have so much against me would I still not like running? I can't answer that but I do look back over the years and see that I have never been a runner. So I cheer on those who find that to their liking but for me it just isn't the thing to do.

I am just like you Arlene: arthritis in my knees prevents me from doing any kind of high impact exercise...

I'm one of those runners you're talking about. I'm really frustrated that I've been sidelined by injuries, but I think I'll be getting back outside and on the roads soon. Looking forward to it.

But there are people who love to do other things that I'd just as soon poke my eyes out than do willingly. That's what makes us so interesting. Everyone is different!

It took me a long time to work my way up to running, but it is hard on the body and not for everyone. There are plenty of other ways to burn calories!

Sometimes I wish I had taken up running when I was young. I bet it would have been such an awesome feeling of accomplishment to run a marathon! But at my age (52) and with my bad knees, I'll never be a runner either. Oh well, there are lots of others things I CAN do, so I focus on doing them to the best of my ability.

Do you enjoy walking?

I was never a runner at school especially since one sports day when I was entered into a sprint race and came last. That was the one and only time I seriously tried to run.

I tried running when I first joined SP but found it much too hard on my hips and knees so although the spirit is willing to try the flesh is not happy.

I'm not a runner either, but have found that walking is good for me and I enjoy it most of the time. There are times when I want to do something else, but never know what to do. Well, thanks for sharing. emoticon
