6. What is your favorite physical activity overall? at the gym? Explain.
My favorite activity is kayaking, though walking the dog is a close second. There is something so calming about gliding over the water quietly. I don't think I would get the same meditative effect riding in a motorboat. I especially enjoy paddling at night, when the distractions are minimized. As for dog walking... I get a kick out of tiring out my Jack Russell Terrier! They are known for being hyper dogs, but I tire Cooper out and he is a very mellow fellow. Good dog!
At the gym I especially liked the treadmill and doing leg press on the squat machine. I no longer go to the gym, as I am on a frugal living kick saving money for a trip next year, but when I did have a membership I loved seeing how far I could get in 30=45 minutes, and how fast I could go. I was never super fast, but I did set a good pace and maintain it. Occasionally I would do intervals at a higher speed just to see if I could do it. I am surprised I never flew off the end of the treadmill.
And the squat machine was proof that I was getting stronger. When I quit going to the gym I was up to 160 pounds on that machine, which is about what I weigh. Made me feel really strong!
Today I drove mom to the wound clinic after walking with my nieces this morning, then walking to go vote. It is a little over 2 miles round trip to get to my polling place. I figure it is important to vote, because if I don't vote then I really cannot complain about politics for the next year at least. (That is just my opinion.) Mom and I did our usual tour of the farm stands and grocery stores after her appointment. She got another afternoon appointment for next week, so I will be driving her again next week. Tomorrow I have to get up and moving earlier than normal because I have an early morning appointment with the dermatologist, whose office is a 40 minute drive... if there is no traffic. I am not looking forward to an early morning. I shouldn't complain though, I am just spoiled with not having a firm schedule most mornings. Usually if Cooper and I are feeling sluggish in the morning we can linger over breakfast.
I need to get out for a run in the next couple days. I got a new long sleeved top (with odor guard) to wear when I go out running. Now I just have to get out there. Go, Chandra! Just get going!
