My well check went pretty great. The only issues I have according to him are my cholesterol and Vitamin D. My cholesterol is up a little overall is 165 with HDL at 36 s/b 45 or higher and LDL at 91 which he says is fine. My vitamin D deficiency has gotten worse. I'm at 19 when I should be at 50 or higher. Oh my triglycerides were high at 191 but he said since that has never happened before and my glucose was 71 he's not worried.
So basically I'm taking a prescription grade vitamin D, I'm back on my BP Meds (which I hate but I can't do anything about until I drop some more weight) and I'm doubling up on my fish oil which he said would help with the slightly low HDL and the triglycerides. Also regular cardio will increase that HDL number.
Which brings me to the BEST news that I don't have to go the chiro three times a week any more. He released me last night and now I'll just go back once a month. He didn't fix my back but it is certainly better than it was. Now I just have to do the stretches and continue to lose weight. He is still advising that I consider weight loss surgery but I just don't want to go that route. So now BOTH Doctors have approved me to start working out on my own, low weights with lots of reps and the elliptical plus some yoga stretches at home and the ball. The ortheopedic doctor says I can't cardio walk on the treadmill or outside or I'll make my tendonitis worse but he approved the elliptical also. He said a stationary bike would be good but my chiro said no to that because I can't sit up straight on it. So anyway I'm joining a gym this week and getting myself in gear! I can't do the recumbent because my legs are too short and it's not comfortable for me to sit on.
I have not been eating all that well. My healthy eating plan fell to the wayside when I went to Tampa but that was almost three weeks ago so I need to stop letting that de-rail me. I am eating healthier in fits and starts now and that's no good. I need consisistency! I bought and grilled my proteins for the week last night and tonight I will head out to the produce store after work. I usually do all my prep over the weekends but the last few weekends have been so busy. Again my biggest problem areas are skipping meals and stopping for fast food instead of fixing lunch or dinner. Going to the chiro three weeknights a week has really put a crimp in the works but that's no excuse. The good news is that with all of my lousy eating habits over the last few weeks I have only managed to gain back three pounds.
From what I've been given to understand, as my vitamin D increases and my kidney function improves (they're inter-related) then I should begin to see more significant weight loss by increasing my serotonin levels and increasing my body's ability to absorb nutrients like calcium which in turn will help my body release fat cells more efficiently. I think I have that right, there was a lot of information. Oh and apparently the vitamin d deficiency might also be why my triglycerides are elevated and my blood pressure is high. Aren't our bodies amazing?
I'm trying out a new recipe tonight and I can't wait to see how it turns out! It's a bastardized healthier version of Applebee's Fiesta Lime Chicken. Yum! Okay off to heat up my lunch (leftover pizza - hey I can't just throw it away!)
