Well, I seem to really be getting back to the fitness part of things. The food choices still need to improve, but already hitting the 250 minutes in the month surprised me even though my sessions have been long. Saturday and yesterday were killer sessions. If I walk to the gym it is only about 20 minutes each way. So I have started walking up more often. It is nice being outside and the distance allows me to get some higher impact cardio than the bike gives. But in smaller doses so that it doesn’t get my foot and ankle all sore. Back story on the foot and ankle, I fell from a ladder about 12 years ago and shattered my heel. I used it as an excuse for a long time to do nothing. I am trying to work it back to where it doesn’t affect things so much.
But Saturday I walked up to warm up at a pretty good pace. Then got on the bike and worked my way to a nice easy relaxed level 9. Once at the 5 minute mark I bumped to level 14 for 1 minute. Then backed down for an active recover spin at level 9 for 4 minutes. Then hit it again at level 15 for 1 minute. I repeated this to level 19 at the 29 minute mark then an easy spin for 5 minutes. Then walked home.
Yesterday I goofed and started at level 15 instead of 14 and went for 70 second intervals and 3:50 easy. Stil worked out to the 5 minute span. But I only made it to level 18 and then repeated level 15. I was fried by the end. Then walked home. So about 40 minutes of walking and 35 on the bike. Good mix of indoor and outdoor exercise. With the weather changing though I am not sure how long I can keep this up. Trying to dress for cooler weather walks and indoor cycling has its challenges. I get so heated up and sweaty inside I will freeze going back outside. But it is only 20 minutes outside so it shouldn’t be too bad unless it truly drops below freezing. Then I may need to rethink. Lol
But it feels good to really be back and working hard again. I missed it. I am now making it a priority again. That is the important part.
So now a fun note. I am thinking about taking the kids to Florida for a whirlwind trip between Christmas and new years. It would be a lot of driving over a short time but I have 3 drivers so that shouldn’t be too bad. I want to get in the water and dive. Since I don’t own a drysuit, diving up here isn’t an option. Lol. So, I want to hit Crystal River to go snorkel with the manatee and then do some cavern diving at Giny Springs. 4 day trip, 2 days nothing but driving. 2 days either diving or snorkeling. Just hope my oldest wants to go or else I have no one to watch the youngest while I dive. lol
