Week 3 - Day 2 - Deadlines & Balance

Yesterday was deadline day for the magazine I work with, 16 hours of computer time, having meals and snack in front of the screen while working. I ate within my ranges, but didn't get even my 10 minutes of exercise. My butt is sore today from sitting.

For a lot of years days like yesterday were just my typical day. Me and my computer working constantly. But in recent times I've made a conscious effort to work less and find more balance in my life. Even still, there are usually one or two days a month around deadline time when I can't do anything else, just work. I still haven't found the ability to balance everything all the time, but I keep working on it.

On the up side I was so tired at the end last night that I fell right to sleep and slept a solid 7 hours.

Today I'm taking a class at the Community Kitchen. I've signed up for a 5-6 week program. I'm not sure what to expect from today's class but I'm excited to get out of the house and off my butt standing in a kitchen hopefully learning some new cooking techniques. Plus I get to bring some of whatever we've made home afterwards. It's supposed to be all healthy stuff. We're supposed to have a better understanding of how to eat healthy on a tight budget when we're done.

If nothing else, it should be fun! And totally outside my normal comfort zone, so I'm sure I'll grow in some way by doing it.

    Good for you - both for working toward more balance in your life AND for stepping outside your comfort zone! One of the things I love about SparkPeople is that it is filled with positive people who are actively working on themselves. The people here challenge themselves, and when they stumble (as we all do) they pick themselves back up and continue to head in the right direction. Know there are lots of us right alongside you, cheering you on!
