Oh Boy I had a numb leg last week I called the orthopedic Dr and asked for an evaluation. The knee was making noises and inside felt like there was something loose behind my Kneecap.
I went there today and it was Xrayed extensively and the joints looked great, I am an X-ray tech from the old school. We were diagnostic Radiographers so I wanted a picture.
The obvious scenario now is I have neuropathy from my back injury.
It might easily be from my being diabetic so I need to determine which it is.

Since it was numb and not painful, I just kept on doing my walking and yard work. Now it is numb from having a cortisone shot because I never felt the prick but boy as usual deep pain was obvious as the steroid went in. Very fast it was pain free.
Now the leg feels very cold and there are some stabbing pains in my leg.The knee is still NUMB to the touch.
I will have to consult with the acupuncturist. He tried last year but at that time I was not exactly certain where the stabbing pain comes from.

I will have to learn about it. I was given some exercises to do and They are exactly what I do with my resistance bands right now.

I have my electric blanket waiting for me so I am off to bed.
I am hoping for 8 hours sleep.

Pat in Maine.

For sure I'd want an eval. Do you have pulses in the leg/foot? That would be something to check out. It could be, as you say, neuropathy from the back, from the diabetes of a cardiovascular problem.

    Wishing you luck!

    HUGS and feel better.

I have been having similar problems with my knees, especially the left one. I think it's the change in weather and the barometric pressure plus all the work I am doing trying to get ready for winter. Let's hope we both get some relief soon.

Geez, Pat! You don't need another thing!! Hopefully, you can get this figured out quickly. Aging is not for sissies, I say!! I am doing a sleep study tomorrow night. I don't think I have apnea but doctor does. We shall see. I never feel rested; always "dragging". Like I said; aging is not for sissies! emoticon

Sorry your knees are giving you fits. I hope that you find a resolution to your pain soon and I hope you got some sleep overnight. You don't have arthritis do you? Though that should have shown up in the x-ray.
I'll pray for a resolution to your search and healing.
Don't over tax it, but don't quit moving either.

Sorry about your knee Pat! The last steroid shot I got in both knees at the same time (which I thought would be ok)...well, the shots was given to me by a physician's assistant, not the Dr. like I had previous to that. The shot was painful and by the time I got home, I could barely get up and down-my knees felt numb and like I couldn't move them. Bob had to help me move for a few days. I called the Dr.'s office to tell them what happened and they said it happens sometimes after the shot-it should clear up in under a week (and it did). I couldn't believe it since the first shot by the Dr. was pain free and I walked out of there and after that like I had a new knee! I never got another one after that, but now I am thinking yes it may be time!
My right knee now is having a stabbing pain too. First time that has happened in a long time. I put heat on it, then ice and it calmed down. I think the injury to my heel on the other foot is aggravating the knee really bad, due to limping. I will be seeing my Dr. soon for my check up and will see what she thinks.
Hope you feel better soon! emoticon
