I don't recognize myself

Monday, November 04, 2013

I realized recently that I have gone through Menopause with the hot flashes and weird body changes and crazed emotions, etc. , in record time. Either that or my body is just freaking out. I feel more calm than before....I don't feel like my emotions are flailing out of control...I feel more even keel. Before I was up and down and up and down...a doctor even gave me the name of a Psychiatrist and used the word Manic (I have a friend that has manic depression and it's very difficult for her, so I'm not making fun). I had light headed spells and thought I was going to pass out. And now...there seems to be a calm Of course that makes me think of the eye of a storm. I didn't realize mid 40s was old enough to go through menopause.

Anyhoo, maybe this is the beginning of the rest of my life. emoticon

In my mid 40's I mentioned that to my doctor and he said I was too young. All those years in practice and what does he know? I certainly hope it's not the eye of the storm but the calm after. I have had some brief periods of possible hot flashes, but nothing like I've seen in some of my friends. Hope your calm stays around.

Been there, done that but....did you tell your Dr. you are losing weight. Our fat cells hold estrogen. If we start losing large amounts of weight we release that into our bodies and we can have those symptoms. Good luck to you, you'll get through this, I promise!

SUSANBEAMON, your description sounds exactly like me. I started about the same time and couldn't sleep well because I'd wake up blazing hot and sweating like crazy…felt I needed a shower constantly. Depression, anxiety, etc. I am so sorry yours lasted so long. Mine feels like its over, but my sister told me to "just wait". So..uh oh. emoticon

Take care! Everyone is different and experiences different symptoms. Hope you are over the worst of it.

Thanks, DIBANANA. My doc was going to give me meds for hot flashes (hormones), but I said, "hotflashes don't hurt even though they are annoying", so I didn't take meds either. I'm glad to hear that you didn't have any problems. There's hope!

I was in menopause at 50. I was lucky in that I had hot flashes for a while and that was it. My female gynecologist did not give me any hormones and I have never had any and had no problems. I hope it all works out for you.
