Update on my virtual walk form Land's End, England, to John O' Groats, Scotland

Monday, November 04, 2013

I've now walked almost 70 miles, and am approaching the town of Bodmin, southwest of Bodmin Moor, the first of many moors that we will cross on this virtual walk. Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor, Exmoor, then later the Yorkshire Moors.

There is no "official" route from Land's End to John O'Groats. As the crow flys, it's a 700 mile trip, but the way most people walk or cycle varies between 900 and 1100 miles. Averaging 20 miles/week, it will take me about a year to complete this walk.

I'm following Mark Moxson's blog about his walk, Denise has a cycling map which she's using. We're enjoying learning about the towns and villages we walk through, and stop once in a while to sample the local ales and ciders.

Bodmin Moor, here I come!

I missed this one about the MOORS, My North Yorkshire Moors. I walked many miles there we used to walk over to Captain Cooks monument to have pinics.
They are much changed now they grow a lot of rape seed there sending it to Europe. We stayed in Marton we rented a cottage and we went to Castle Howard. The place where they filmed BRIDESHEAD REVISITED and THE BUCCANEERS. We rode the Steam engines still running on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. DH was in with the Engineer nad fireman, It is a great area, HUGS Pat in Maine emoticon

I hope your virtual weather is better than the real thing here in the uk, its wet and windy!! I live way up beyond the end of your walk in the western isles, you'd have to be able to walk on water to get to me!!!!!!!

Are you counting your 'pints' ? Do virtual calories and exercise count?
Sounds like you are having a great "virtual trip".
Hugs, Audra

I buy sportswear from the Land's End website, but I had no idea that it was an actual place! I'm glad you are enjoying your virtual walk...they really are fun and informative!
