It matters. (Blog #443)

Insight! As I read the comments to my blog #442, a few feelings and thoughts linger.
First, I do miss the reflection time that the blog time avails me. The reflection time actually tides me over all day. The act of writing makes me stop and examine. The act of writing relaxes me. The act of writing preps my brain to consider options off and on all day long. Once I get on a roll, I notice little things that cause me to wonder what my thoughts will turn out to be when "pen hits paper". They are not earth shattering. They are not exquisite. But they are my thoughts that help me sort out my life.
Second, several comments reminded me that support "matters" in big and little ways. Perhaps the most jolting is GAYEMC's story. She shared: "This morning on my way to work in the dark I walked passed a sidewalk sweeper, we both said good morning to each other. It put a smile on my face to start the day. It DOES matter!" So correct! I never hesitate to share a smile and I know that smiles in my direction just make a day that much better. Bolstering my day with a good smile makes making a positive decision on my behalf that much easier.
Third, others always add to my thinking. I talk about that all day at work! I talk about how the collaborative process enhances our work. And here is the greatest example of collaboration ever! Each of us pitches a thought and a few of our fellow humans put our spin on it. And most of the time the result is insight for someone! And, the most human part is that sharing the foibles is as powerful as sharing the successes.
And hence, today went well. Good choices on food. Good choices in water. Took a break on exercise after yesterday's long walk. Not really there in the sleep department ... that will come. And sharing again: it mattered.
