Running progress

As a child even, I thought I was doomed to only be good at running very short distances, like running bases in softball or 50 yard dashes (or whatever amount of yards they were) in gym classes...

I was lucky if I could even run an entire lap on the track without feeling like I was going to die.

However, I think I am proof that if you put your mind to it and really want to improve at something, you can do it.

Even if it took me until I was 29 years old, I am now able to say I can run the equivalent to a lap around a track without dying.

Today I made it a goal to complete at least one whole circle (about .32 miles) of my neighborhood as a running interval. I not only did it once which I had never done before, but I did it at least 7 times (alternating in between with speed walking).

I'm so proud of myself, even though I still have a lot of room to meet more goals and improve.

You know.... It can be ADDICTIVE! Soon you'll be crossing the finish line of your first 5K!

I remember dreading that stupid Presidential Fitness Test every year because of that HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE mile! I never could run it. (Might have helped if they warned us and I could have brought a good bra! I got a D in gym my senior year because they sprang it on us and I was wearing some flimsy thing and refused to annihilate my poor mammaries!)

Now I am up to at least 5 minutes at a time without having to walk. Insanity!
