That's Daylight Savings Time.
Not that it bothers me in general, but the problem is the ability to communicate with Levi. Peru is in the same time zone as New York, but their clocks stay the same. So for half of the year, I'm an hour ahead of him. And since I have to get up between 5 and 5:30 for work, leaving by around 6:30 - I can't call him in the morning because it would be only 5:30 there. He lives in Pucallpa which is in the Rain Forest region.
It is generally hot year round, with occasional dips into the 60's, usually in the 80's with slightly more comfortable temps after midnight. Because of the heat, it takes a while to fall asleep, and of course the coolest time is just before dawn. Far be it from me to wake Levi from much-needed sleep!
And he usually gets home from work after 9...more often between 9:30 and 10, which is like 10:30- 11 for me - and I just can't hang on that long. So calls are limited to Friday nights through Sunday afternoons.
But NOW...I asked if he'd prefer me to call in the morning or evening. He decided on the morning, so we could have a little scripture and prayer - in the evening when he gets home from work he likes to wind down with a program similar to things like American Idol.
It appeals to the singer in him! (He has a fine voice.)
So this morning I called and his father answered - Levi was in the bathroom - so we were able to chat a little. I read to Levi from 2 Cor. 3, and it was so delightful to listen to him as he spoke about God's word...just makes me fall in love with him all the more!
We closed with prayers for each other. A lovely way to pass 15 minutes and start my day!
