i still surprise me.

Monday, November 04, 2013

Hi, had a couple events lately, the first one was my sister-in-law's 60th birthday, we went out for dinner on the night of her birthday to a hotel. I look at the menu and made reasonable choices for the meal. So much better than I would have before.

The next night we had a party for same person and had a roast meal. Three types of meat so I took one small piece of pork and lots of vegies. Birthday cake was a cheese cake, had a small piece and can honestly say I did not like it, too sickly. I had one piece of jelly slice, my all time favourite but I stopped at one and didn't miss eating more.

Not bad for a person who did not want to celebrate this, turned out she had these two plus a surprise party.

I also went out to a cousin's 80th birthday afternoon tea, the only thing I ate there was a small piece of birthday cake. Looked at the yummy cakes and thought "they looked nice' but they stayed were they were.

It is when I stop and think what I ate at these special occasions that I surprise myself with how far I have come. It is just a fact of life now, something you do everyday without thinking but with these events I can honestly say "wow'.

Good for you! IT's all about the celebration, not necessarily the food, and you did well with your choices. GREAT JOB!

I have found that things in the past that I enjoyed, too, don't have the thrill anymore. That's a good thing. Means the taste buds are saying, "You'll be happy you stick to healthy foods." And just a taste of this or that on special occasions such as you had-- well, as long as you choose wisely!

Wow, I'm so excited and happy for you! It's all those choices we make along the way that add up at the end and create change. Change will only happen if we make it happen and you are making it happen! Well done!! Your blog made me think of the taste of cheesecake - thick and sickly sweet yes! My favourite!
