Day 2 = Rode my bike after neglecting it for over a month
My son brought me a bike on 8/4/13
I loveeeeeeeeeeee this special beautiful woman's bike. It is special for me because the center of the bike is low so that when I mount and dismount the bike, it is low enough for me not to trip and fall and as we get older we have to make good choices to prevent possible future injury. It was pretty pricey but sooooooo well worth it :)
I have my bike rack but since I purchased my 2014 car, the bike dosent fit well on my car and hits the rear windshield wiper. So I do not believe I can use it anymore.... but today I was determined to NOT allow my fear of riding in the streets to deter me from my joy of riding.
As I rode down the hill towards the main street, there was a feeling of FREEDOM that I love so much with the cool wind passing me by as I rode. It was absolutely positively WONDERFUL! Bike riding is not exercise for me. It's just like a FUN thing to do and I love it so much now that I found a form of exercise that is FUN to do,
As I rode I put my fear of cars and loose running dogs out of my thoughts and enjoyed the moment. (I usually ride in a safe park where dogs are on leases and I feel safe and there are no cars. Its just a beautiful park where I ride 1 lap and it is a mile.)
When I got to the main street, my fear came back as I saw the cars coming. I struggled to keep my balance and stay on my side of the street as to not interfere with traffic. Then I passed a house as I got on the side walk to be safer and this pitbull dog came running towards the fence and was barking feriously at me and I was sooooo afraid. I turned around to ride back home after 4 blocks.
I rode my bike UP a steep hill back to my house. I lowered my gear to enable to ride my bike up a hill. My legs were screaming, heart pounding and being out of breathe BUT I kept pushing myself and could not stop because I knew if I stopped .... I would stop and give up...
so I kept going and pushing myself and made it to my house, yeh!
After I caught my breathe and stretched my muscles, I did 20 pushups
I miss riding my bike and my beautiful bike can carry my weight and I shouldn't miss out of enjoying such FREEDOM of moving my body safely in a safe environment all because my bike rack dosent fit properly.... so I will have to find a solution
REMEMBER: A body in motion, STAYS in motion
Today on Sunday I took a couple of naps
and it was sooooo fabulous to catch up on resting my body. I know sometimes we get so busy with work and obligations or family that we forget to really listen to our bodies need for rest. It is good to listen to the body :)
