Maintaining my Loss

Sunday, November 03, 2013

I started Ideal Protein in July and lost over 30 lbs in ~2 mos. I've been maintaining that loss +/- 5 lbs. Most of the fluctuation is water. When I notice a few pounds creeping on, and go back on ph 1, I often am able to drop 10 lbs in a few days to go well below where I was maintaining. This additional loss is only shortly lived as it is also merely water weight (there's no other explanation for such a loss/re-gain). Body fat percentage has also stayed consistent, which is the true indicator, along with body shape and what the clothes tell me.

I still use the protocol, for the most part, for breakfasts, and lunches. I stay away from the majority of processed sugars/carbs, but enjoy some at times, usually when eating out.

I have researched alternatives to IP and am switching to a much lower cost product, because let's admit it, the protocol is as expensive as it is effective. If your interested in the brand I've gone to and/or the results PM me.

I wish everyone a healthy and happy day.

Hey Gizmo. I am on phase 3 right now and trying to figure out how i will maintain my weight. my biggest BIGGEST challenge is getting my veggie in. When I am -=jetting out the door to school, I don't have the time to cut up and measure veggies to put in a bag and think about the protein i gotta take. honestly it was so much easier being on phase 1 because I got to just use the IP stuff and dint have to worry about cooking on my own. ugh. its so inconvenient to eat!! btw. i've gained 2 lbs after getting on phase 3. i hate looking at the scale now.. i KNOW its the glycogen being restored but seeing +2lbs is scary! ugh! I need to stop weighing myself. Do you think working out helps u keep the weight off?

Thanks for sharing! It is great to hear that maintenance is possible after we finish phase 1.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. DawnDmoore, I agree. IP is a balanced program, with an Ideal amount of protein, with veggies and good carbs blended in. My physician monitored things, and after 3 mos, I was off ALL my meds, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, GONE. Loving life.

Body fat measurement is definitely the way to go. The scale is just another tool in the toolkit, not the ONLY tool.

emoticon That is wonderful that you have been able to maintain your weight! Hopefully you are still getting a balance of the food groups and not just protein. That is just my suggestion. I have seen too many friends go on these programs, and they lose weight, but they aren't putting healthy things in their body that they need. Have a blessed day! emoticon emoticon
