Day 1: Here's to the 'small losers'

Today's motivational email from SP concerned a woman who lost over 100 pounds on the Spark program. Truly inspirational, and the attention well-deserved!
Yet many of us here on SP have much more modest goals, and we deserve recognition, too. So, here's to everyone who is on a mission to lose 10, 20, 30 or 40 pounds. We may not find ourselves in the spotlight much, but that doesn't mean our journeys are less challenging along the way or less meaningful when we finally achieve our goal.
If you're in this group (as I am), you have chosen to take control of your health before it gets out of control. Bravo for you! You have shown great foresight and insight. You will avoid developing Type 2 Diabetes before it starts; you will reduce your risk of cardiovascular damage before your blood pressure indicates a problem. In short, you will have cut health problems off at the pass, which is always better than allowing a disease to develop before addressing it.
The 'big losers' may get most of the attention, but we 'small losers' score a quiet triumph every day. We deserve a little recognition for our accomplishments, so consider this blog post a hearty WELL DONE to all of you!
