Entering the world of blogging

Saturday, November 02, 2013

After thinking about writing a blog outside of this site for quite a while now, today I took the plunge! DD set up her blog and showed me how to make a page through Google+ All that was very straightforward and even someone as computer challenged like me could manage that :)
I registered the name and did the background etc yesterday and today it was time to get real and sit down and write my first blog.

Since moving to Mexico there have been lots of challenges - shopping, social life, cooking with different ingredients and that's all before having to manage in very broken spanish in some places where they don't speak english. A few key words and hand signals go a long way LOL Not surprisingly the spanish names for different veggies were learned quickly!

Here's a link to my blog:

I made a list of the all the ideas bubbling up in my head and I am sure there will be lots more.

I welcome all your feedback, questions about living here and ideas for blogs!!

Oh Lis! How I relate to all your adjustments in Mexico. You are singing my song! I have become an expert at charades. I especially miss my cooking ingredients for my favourite recipes. My husband was in California last week on business and I asked him to bring me back a bunch of things that I couldn't get here. He had to buy another suitcase because he said that it all weighed too much for the suitcase that he brought! Funny!
Take care

Congrats on the blog. I've thought about it, but not ready to take that plunge. Yes, keep a notebook and write down all your ideas for blogs. I have one that is full of stuff for my blogs here, it keeps ideas flowing for me. I will be reading your new blog.

How wonderful that you not only made the decision and went ahead and got it set up, but now you've started writing!! You go girlfriend!!!

I'm afraid I can't help you with the cooking as there are only a very few Mexican dishes I care for. Mostly they are too spicy/hot for me!! It would be nice to include recipes once a month or so. If you add an antidote, it would read like your regular blog posts.

Wow - So impressive - here I go to visit your new blog! Awesome. Visited the blog and subscribed. I am with you. I love cooking from scratch. More so now than ever because of our healthier diets. I get a great deal of satisfaction from preparing food now. All of the fresh produce on the shelves looks wonderful. I am in constant dismay over the myriad of "products" on our US store shelves. P.S. I have been making my own laundry soap for over a year now with borax, zote and baking soda ~ LOVE it! emoticon emoticon
