Wk 134 Weigh In

Saturday, November 02, 2013

I'd like to think of this week as "practice".

Yep, another week without a loss or gain. I started off well enough, but I think the midweek homemade hamburger and macaroni salad, as good as they were, threw me off track.

I only got to the gym 3 times this week, as opposed to the 5 times last week. But I don't want to feel like I "have" to get to the gym to make this work. Sometimes I am too busy to make it to the gym and so I need to do a better job of watching where my calories are coming from and keeping an eye on the sodium intake. Of course, if I were a little less busy I could probably get more things done and have more time for the gym and possibly other activities, but alas I am much too busy at this point in my life.

To make things a tad more realistic, go ahead and replace the word "busy" in the previous paragraph with the word "lazy". Yeah, that makes it seem more honest.

So here's this week's numbers, I've gone ahead and done this in the accepted English language and numerical system, just to make it easier for everyone :)

Weight : 213.4
Lost : 0.0
Total : 106.6

So there you have it, another mediocre week. I was however able to not eat any Halloween candy, until Friday evening when I had a couple of mini packs of M&M's. So I did pretty good on that front.

I find that the ebbing and flowing of sodium makes a huge difference.

I like the "practice" angle. How can you improve without practice?

Ken you are a hoot. I really enjoy your blogs and humble humor. But this time, I just want to re-write your blog for you. Forgive me if this is meddling. Here goes:

I'd like to think of this week as "practice".

Yep, another successful week of maintenance without even an ounce of gain. I started the week off strong and survived being thrown off track by a good, midweek, homemade hamburger and macaroni salad.

In spite of a busy schedule which makes it hard to get to the gym, I got there 3 times this week. That compares to 5 times last week but thatís ok because I don't want to feel like I "have" to get to the gym to make this work. To move from maintenance to weight loss, I will need to watch where my calories are coming from and keep an eye on the sodium intake. Of course, if I were a little less busy I could probably do the calorie tracking and get to the gym more and have more time for other activities too, but I need to set realistic goals given the demands on my time.

To make things a tad more realistic, go ahead and replace the word "busy" in the previous paragraph with the word "zombie". Yeah, I've been a successful zombie this week but itís time now to revive the spark and knock some weight off.

So here's this week's numbers, I've gone ahead and done this in the accepted English language and numerical system, just to make it easier for everyone :)

    Weight : 213.4
    Lost : 0.0
    Total : 106.6

So there you have it, a zombie who is enjoying weighing 106.6 pounds less than he used too and keeping it off even while eating a couple of Halloween mini packs of M&M's. So I did pretty good on that front. Now watch what happens this week. Iím going to kick some fat.

I am toughing through the same type of thing.
I give myself permission a little too easily on some food
    that really were not necessary,
and I sometimes feel like this is trudging through mud - effort

    Hang in there
I guess it is always going to be a bit of a battle to keep the attitude towards positive emoticon

You did better with the candy than I did! I was so hopeful that I wouldn't touch it. Then Halloween night came, I put ONE Reeces pb cup on the table and said I'll wait until later and that's all I'll have. Then it turned into, okay, ONE milky way, ONE snickers, ONE butterfinger...ah, what the hell...why not have another. Yeah...about 12 candies later, I blew it.

We're approaching that time of year that maintenance is considered a victory. Keep on keepin' on. You're still doing great. It's a lifestyle...no 'end' date. You're making that work for you and still ahead of the game.

Well done on the no gain. Over the past 3 weeks you have had a 0, loss, 0: you need to aim for a loss this week. This is still progress. If you need a break from the gym, try gardening or a sport probably indoor like bowls since the cooler weather is on its way

very good on resisting the Halloween goodies!!!

a week with no gain is always a good week...yes, a loss would have been even better but no gain is so much better than a gain!

So glad you used the "accepted English language and numerical system, just to make it easier for everyone :) " I haven't had a chance to study Zombie!!!

Also good you didn't gain so a win really. What did you dress up as to get the candy? HUH? huh?:)

"Busy" is a multi functional word good to see it getting some use.

    Have a great week.

I was just thinking it's Saturday and time for Ken's blog!

had candies like it was no tomorrow but I always do on Halloween to commemorate quitting smoking and gaining 60 lbs in a flash. I am happy you could resist but there must be something else holding you up in the losing game.....what do you think? emoticon
