Aargh just lost my first entry on this.
1. Have you set a new short- or medium-term goal or challenge recently? Do you have a goal or challenge that you have been working on for a while? What is it? What do you hope to gain from it?
After wrestling with the new goal thing for a few days I have decided that I will do eight strength training sessions in November. This is a SMART goal: specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound. 8 sessions is achievable and I can mark them off as completed. It is realistic because I have a set of dumbells at home and Sparkcoach Nicole will help me with a plan. And it is time bound because it will be over at the end of November.
I will gain some strength and a teeny tiny bit of muscle. I will be satisfied because I will have undertaken something I have planned to do all year. And hopefully I will gain momentum to continue to include ST into my regular fitness program.
2. Imagine you have met your new short- or medium-term goal or challenge. What would you like to say happened for you while you were working toward that goal?
While I was working toward that goal I found that it was so easy to snack on strength training that I find I can incorporate it into my week more often. It was pleasurable to work my muscles and I enjoyed the feeling of pushing myself, of keeping to good technique, and the sensation the next day of a pleasant soreness from having pushed myself a little. I enjoyed it so much that I want to continue. I am going to do it again next month, and build up from 8 to 12 sessions a month.
Yes, I did find all those things in the month ahead!
