Today was the first day of registration for next year's Run For The Red Marathon. It's a one-way downhill race. It was a blast this year and an exciting first official marathon even though it was a little rough on the quads. I didn't want to risk getting closed out of registration for the next race, so I'm in for May 18th 2014.

I started with a nine minute pacer last time around and that turned out to be a mistake. Unless I make some dramatic improvements over the next six months, I'm going to start with the eleven minute mile group and see what happens.

That's what I need, a downhill race! I have too much trouble on the uphills!

Downhill all the way? What an unusual experience for one's muscles that must be!

Sounds like a plan. I know when I choose to ride with the fast puppies in our bike club how badly it feels to admit to myself later that if I don't drop off from the pack I'm gonna drop!

I have no idea whatsoever about marathon distance, but choosing a slower pace sounds like a good idea.
I would be euphoric if I could run a marathon at a 11 min/mile pace for sure... or at any pace, in fact. But I'm stuck at 10K and somehow I don't feel mozivated to increase my distance. Maybe I would if I attended more organized races...
