Eating Healthy

Friday, November 01, 2013

I don't know why so many people complain that eating healthy is expensive because it really isn't. I have just figured out that it will cost me about $50 a week to eat for just myself. Most of these people are the ones who go thru a drive thru for dinner anyway and spend an average of $8 a person. If I were to do this just once a day it would cost $56 a week and then I would have to spend even more money on some groceries to eat my other meals. Yes groceries can be expensive but if you shop smart you can save a lot of money and get healthy all at the same time. This is what most would call a win-win situation.

Good for you! It does take planning, however and the strength to walk by all those "buy one, get one free" specials that never seem to include anything healthy.

I live with the junk food king and he can bring home 3 boxes of snack cakes (on sale!) for the same price as 1 quart of my organic yogurt. So sad. His ingredient list looks like a chemistry experiment.

As you's all about shopping smart. I personally look at the circulars from where I shop each week and I buy on sale and plan meals around those sale items. Saves $ for sure! I don't eat processed foods, so I buy veggies, fruits, meat/fish, etc. Nothing in boxes or cartons with strange ingredients.

I love to save money and I'm very economical! Nice to meet others that are too. I love to find a good bargain almost as much as I love to find a new recipe!

So true about the fast food - expensive and just not healthy. I bought a big package of arugula for $5.99 and that will last us several meals with some light dressing on it as a side for our dinners.

The broccoli I wanted to buy was over $2.50 a pound yesterday. I didn't get it. I was sad, but that was just ridiculous!

Got my other stuff though and I'm excited about eating healthy!!!

Hope your week goes well!

You can find some healthy foods for good prices. It's easier when they there is only one person because you don't have to deal with different preferences and tastes.

I think some fruits and vegetables are probably more expensive than they need to be. I love berries and they are frequently very costly.

It's good when you can find good whole foods for a good price!
