Part 2, The Farmhouse at war

Friday, November 01, 2013

Here are some photos of the farmhouse at war, though I can remember using some of the things we saw and that was long after the 2nd world war. See if you recognize any.

The farmhouse

The Dairy

The Churn

Washroom the Mangle I can remember using my Aunties that looked like this.

The washroom sink

Carpet beaters

The boiler, the washboard and the dolly, I remember these well. Do you remember skittle groups that used washboards?

Wine making, well some of us still do that.

The sitting room where the ladies were spinning

The kitchen range

Kitchen table and larder

Sue and my GD coming down the narrow staircase

Young evacuees bedroom

My DH in the bedroom

An unusual place for a bed- halfway up the stairs. Notice the comode bottom left.

The dressing table with me in the mirror.

The schoolroom

There was a lady making rag rugs, but it was too dark to take a photo.

Hope you enjoyed these photos. I don't remember seeing the well. There would have been one . My Aunt and Uncle did not have running water or electricity till the 1960's so I wonder why there were no oil lamps. Probably all been sold to antique shops by now. Ha ha! Or broken.
