Incredible Feats

Friday, November 01, 2013

I just finished reading a book about a woman who hiked the entire Appalachian Trail for her 40th birthday. It was called Summoning the Mountain: Pilgrimage Into 40. There was a community of hikers along the trail, so she often wasn't alone, but she did it by herself (with support from her sons and ex-husband). She showed a lot of growth in strength and resilience, and I enjoyed reading about her experiences and her insights.

Then, I follow this guy on Facebook. His page is called Running the End of the World. He started in Canada and is running -- barefoot -- to the Southern edge of Argentina. He's in his late 20s and is in incredible shape. He is on the Alabama/Mississippi border as I write this.

I don't really have an interest in superhuman feats like these, but they do give me inspiration to keep living a healthful life!

While these courageous people often get the headlines, it is the people like you, who gladly use them for inspiration, should also be celebrated.
