I'm so excited, I've just registered for next years Bay to Breakers! This is the fourth year in a row that I've participated and each year I get a little bit better and a little bit faster.
In 2011 it was the 100th anniversary of the Bay to Breakers and I was so excited to be participating in such an event. However somewhere between mile markers 4 and 5 blisters were developing on my heels and my toes were cramping up. I thought "there's no way I'm going to make it" but I did it. Note to self....don't buy new shoes to wear for the race without breaking them in first!
In 2012 my hips and knees were feeling sore by the end, but the adrenaline had kicked in so I didn't really care. At least I beat last years time! Oh, and I wore the same shoes but at least they were broken in!
In 2013 I felt really good at the end of the race. Good thing too because I had to hike up the hill at Ocean Beach past the Cliff House to meet my husband, which added about a half a mile. Yep, still wearing the same shoes. They're WELL broken in and comfy now!
2014 I think I'll invest in a new pair of running shoes. I've got until May 18th to get them broken in!
