I love rain.....EXCEPT......when we only have one week of vacation and that's all we keep getting
We haven't nearly done the amount of walking we expected to, because of the rain. I am not talking about light drizzle, or slightly harder which will leave us wet but still enjoying it. I'm talking thunder booming, lightening flashing and cracking in the sky and ankle deep water wherever we go, even boot camp got canceled due to the boards UNDER the covered gazebo being totally wet. We have resorted to going for coffee dates which isn't our first choice since (a) it costs money and (b) we do coffee dates all the time in our town. Still, it has been great having hubby home all day for a week.
We did manage to go to the beach last night for a short while before the rain came down.
Justin tried to teach me to skip stones on the water. He can manage a few skips.
I was your typical first timer at this game.
I grew up on horse back, not skipping stones.
Great style, launch and then......
It landed...practically at my toes
I was more than useless at this game, but I had a lot of fun trying.
After the beach, we stopped in at Salinas beach restaurant and have something warm to drink.
The entrance is "interesting" with a "broken" canoe lining either side of the door way.
Bit of a strange thing considering it is actually an upmarket restaurant.
More impressive to me is the Gazania flower garden, which spans the entire front entrance.
Normally it is a blaze of color....however....today all the flowers were shut.
These plants need full sun.
Salinas sits on the beach and its a very up market restaurant. Everything is done in a quiet understated manner and its very relaxing. Usually we watch the sun setting, but of course yesterday it was so overcast there was no sun setting scene.
It's good to see my husband unwinding, smiling and taking some much needed R&R.
We did manage to fit in a short play date with the dogs at the park.
At least we got them out for a bit today too before the rain came pelting down once more.
No one else was out with their dogs today, so mine had the expanse of park ALL to themselves. They played themselves to pieces.
Tomorrow is a big day for our family. My sister and her husband are moving into a rental of their own. It's a sad day in one way...my best friends moving one suburb away after being with us every day for several years. The upside is that they are doing much better now. The new rental will allow them more elbow room and privacy from my mother lol. The poor old dear has not mastered the art of not visiting from 8am right through to 10pm no matter how they moan and set boundaries. I don't have the same problem, yet we are on the same property...strange that....but I'm not complaining
We did plan on a family barbecue tonight, but the rain cancelled that too.
Ah well....time to crawl into bed, boot camp early tomorrow....well I have to plan for it in the event the rain lessens.
