HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Thursday, October 31, 2013

I will share a favorite Halloween memory. I have lived in an apartment complex for the past ten years. Most of the residents here are young professionals with few children. My first Halloween here I was told that if you posted a sign that you had treats you would get kids for trick or treats. So I bought about four different bags of candy, put up a sign and turned on my porch light. After an hour wait, I had my first knock. A cute bunny was on my porch, then this bunnies parents told her to say "trick or treat" well instead she stuck out her red tongue at me :)!!! Well I did offer her as much candy as she could grab from the bowl! She was my only trick or treater but I do remember her and her red tongue!!!

Cute. In my building there are no kids or pets allowed, so I didn't give out any treats to anyone. Quite a change from living in a house. Have a wonderful November 1st.

That's so cute. A emoticon with a red tongue! emoticon
I would have made her say "trick or treat" before I gave her anything. emoticon

I don't think many people let their kids go out trick-or-treating anymore. Maybe in the 'burbs? Seems like there are huge community, church and school parties to fill in the gap. We've never had them at the duplex in 15 years. End of a dark street of rentals and mostly college kids so their places are dark. I remember when I was in the Army in NC my husband went through 8 bags of candy and started giving out dimes, ran out of those and made a quick dash for more candy. He was handing out candy until 11 p.m. The neighbors just laughed at him and told him he should have turned out the porch light at 8. I was working so missed the whole thing.

we're having the neighbourhood kids and their parents over for hotdogs as they trick or treat. hoping for decent weather but we borrowed a tent canopy. love the story - we only really get a few (like 20 or so) neighbourhood kids here but it's always a fun time :)

have a great night!

    Sounds like fun...sort of! Ha!

I bought 16 bags of candy (didn't realize I had !) and should go through most of that tonight. I live in a subdivision and we have lots of kids come visit.

Happy Halloween!!!

    Ha!! Ha!!
I'd hate to think of the kind of kid she grew up to be. Hope she has learned some manners since then!

Happy Halloween!!!

As the Wicked Witch of the West said, "Why, what a delightful little child..." Now you know why those people did not have a lot of children...
