Going the slow path to personal life betterment WORKS!
I love thinking things through, taking well-thought out action, and having things move in the right direction.
2 past cases in point: 1) Several years ago I needed a hysterectomy and all that goes with it. Lots of mula for sure. I am uninsured and will remain that way! So, I found out from the doctor what her costs were going to be, asked for a list of all others getting in on this surgery, called them and got costs. My surgery was scheduled Oct 15th. On Oct. 14th the hospital raised all their rates. They remembered me and reduced their costs by over $900! The anesthesiologist reduced his fee because I paid cash. The doctor reduced her fees also.
I met my doctor on the way into the prep area and she mentioned they were running 45 minutes behind. The anesthesiologist, the hospital and the doctor all charged me from their appointment time for their services including the surgery bay. I got all the parties to reduce their charged fees to the actual time of surgery and saved over $2000.00 combined. I was planning XXX and I ended up getting my bill which had an additional $3000.00 added because of all these additional charges. I made my calls and got everything reduced below XXX and had the entire amounts paid off in full WITHOUT interest in 12 months. If I had had insurance....well you can guess what the paid amount would have been. LOL
2nd case in point: I bought my Honda Fit 10 days after the horrible 9.1 earthquake in Japan. I saw the price sticker, agreed on what I saw, went the next day and they had put an additional sticker on the window adding $2000 to the price, which was included in the contract. When you go and buy a car they confuse everything and inundate/hurry you to sign. Let's just say I have recouped that money and then some. You don't want to mess with a Ninja turtle that is taken advantage of. LOL
An additional win on both the above: One of my good friends is a retired Professor of Economics. He not only praised me for my handling the above situations but helped him on his own surgery - saving him and his insurance company money. He also would love to by a Honda Fit but he'd have to divorce his lovely wife who will only buy Fords.
Now on to today's win. I have a very up and down business and am self supportive. I never could do my financial management in a controlled way. I thought for years it was me and many people told me IT WAS! Well - read my mind!! Over the years I have made several errors and done things that simply were foolish. Anyone who doesn't admit to same should get real with themselves! On each day I could have several changes to my plans that effect the financial aspect of my life. Some are my choices, some are situational, and some are effected by others. Life happens.
For many years I would beat myself up, try to control others, restrict my spending - kind of like too little calories and that doesn't work! This week alone I let go of a client and added a major source of income, the medical clinic.
All through this turmoil I tried different things, tactics and made planning to try to get control of this ever changing situation. After all my life depended on it, right? Right! Finally when I realized I am a Turtle-In-Training I slowed it down. From that moment I have been unstressed and simply watched my ego's thoughts run through my mind. At first I reacted, then I relaxed, now I am calm and peaceful and properly planning.
This morning I have viewed my income and expenses. Not only do I have everything scheduled out - a work in progress over the last years, but I have surplus accounts and savings.
And, just to be clear here I do know that there is going to be changes, fluxes, emergencies, loss of planned income, extra expenses. Ahem....I have an account set up for all this and let me brag here: it's adequate! In fact more than adequate!
Am I happy? YES INDEED!
