Mayflower Man

Thursday, October 31, 2013

My Mayflower Jonathan Soulle must have been in trouble with family or the law. The real Jonathan Soulle lived North of London, was married, and fathered a son just over a year after the Mayflower sailed with my relative on it, under this name. He never returned to England, although he did quite well in the New World.
This is the time of year when the family starts talking about the family tree. There are a few nuts on ours.

If we didn't have nuts and family stories like yours, we wouldn't be that interested in learning more about our families. Just this past week, I found out I am a descendant of 5 brothers named Perkins, who came over on the Mayflower.

If you shake my family tree the only things that fall are nuts!! But that is what makes it so interesting!! I can only laugh when I hear our family stories, even the recent ones like my father calling me Bridget all my life because that is what he wanted to name me but my mother named me Patricia. My friends learned really quick to ask for Bridget when they called otherwise my dad would hang up. He was quite a character!!
