The joys of childbirth

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

So today was my first day back at the gym. Anissa did great in the kids club. She only started to cry a bit at the end and apparently it was because one of the other kids was crying.

With a new membership you get 3 sessions with a trainer, I was set up with Mike. Basically for over a year I have been slacking and my strength went with it emoticon . I could do everything well, but the pushups and situps. I used to be able to do 10 regular pushups and I couldn't do 1 today boo! When it came to doing a situp he had me do one unassisted and then moved to the assisted. Well when I tried to do the unassisted one, I felt a bit uncomfortable, and couldn't complete it. My terrible hemorrhoids from child birth, made doing them very difficult, and I couldn't even get one out. He made me do 5 assisted ones and I still felt uncomfortable down there. When I got home I realized that one of them had burst. I know ewww gross!! I thought since they were not painful that it wasn't urgent to take care of them, but now I think I need to go see the Dr. about them. They are keeping me from getting in a stellar workout.

I hope you did go to the Dr and he was able to relieve the discomfort- ughhh, that sounds awesome :(

Starting "over" is always mentally hard for me, but if I just tell myself to lower my expectations and feel happy if I get out of my comfort zone, I know that I'm working towards progress and that makes me feel better. Be kind and encouraging to yourself and as super hard as that seems and is ( trust me, I know!) really try not to compare to what you used to be able to do. Maybe even set a higher goal :-) and work at it, day by day.

Glad the little one was good for you, so you could get that workout in!!!

Yuck, and ouch! Sorry that it happened to you. Most of us who have given birth have had to deal with those awful things. Have you tried using witch hazel pads? They were a godsend for me after I had my son.

Also, ditto what pp said. Sit-ups are a no-go.

I haven't done a sit-up in years! Not even to get out of bed, I think! LOL
I'm sorry these hemmorroids are still hanging around! That is super frustrating! I think that a doctor would be able to recommend something to you to help them go away! Take a trip there and take care of yourself!!!

PS... you CAN tell the trainer when an exercise is not doable. Just because he says to do it, does not mean you HAVE TO!!! Again, just listen to your own body! You know what's best!!!! emoticon

Your strength and abilities will return, give them time!!!

Please be careful. I remember those days. I don't think it is serious that one of your hemorrhoids leaked. It's not uncommon and may actually relieve some of the pain and pressure. Remember you can ice it a little to make it feel better and high fiber foods will help too. I promise, it goes away and they you will be getting plenty of exercise running after them!!!

Hmmm. What kind of personal trainer makes anyone do situps? It has been many years since situps were place on the not recommended list because they can be bad for you back.

Not to mention your hemorrhoids. Tell him that situps are off the table. Crunches will do without the back, or backside, problems thank you very much.
