The marathon journey begins

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

So, to report on day one of my planned almost year-long marathon odyssey (did I spell that right?) My first goal is to run the Santa Shuffle 5K on December 7, so I am doing a 5K training program first. So, one thing at a time.

It was a 25 minute run today. And, as always, I realize that I get to run in one of the most beautiful places, and am very lucky to be able to run comfortably outside all winter, even though I'm in Canada! The only problem is that after the time change next week, I won't be able to see the scenary when I run. But, I guess that's something to look forward to in the spring!

Anyway, it was a good run, and I'm looking forward to Thursday's!! The journey to 2014 has begun!

I'm glad you have a beautiful place to run. I understand that completely. I went from walking in Alabama with its hills and beautiful natural scenery to metro Detroit with its flat land and concrete jungle. I also hate when it gets dark so early. My countdown to December 21 has begun - I know that's the shortest day of the year and then I can start adding sunshine minutes back.

Oh how exciting. My daughter said she is going to run a marathon next fall. I told her I'd be there to cheer her on. She said, "Momma, we only live once!" so I guess I'll be running with her!

Here's to healthy training and happy runs!!!!!
