New Treads - yeah they're ugly

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

My weight hasn't budged recently, but I'm feeling very good about how my pants fit better and I feel better. So for a nsv - I'm proud of myself for wearing out my sneaks.

Since I've been pounding the pavement almost every day my shoes have taken a beating. This week I noticed that my feet were starting to hurt and I realized that I really needed a new pair of shoes. I almost got a pair of Mizunos (my daughter who runs marathons loves her Mizunos) that were really comfy, but I've worn Sauconys exclusively since I used to run 10 Ks back in the 80s. The Saucon
ys were just a bit more cushiony so I went with them ($20 cheaper, too) even though they are significantly uglier!!

I wore them this morning and my feet felt much better. My daughter started me using map my run with my phone. I like it a lot - it tracks everything and graphs it and puts it on a calendar. Its pretty amazing.

Thanks for these tips on the best shoes. I had never heard of anything higher than Asics, which I had once and they were really ugly but now I go to the gym and see some in really cool colors, dunno where they get them. Now I'm broke and just get my shoes at Walmart, which is fine because I only do the elliptical, and I do Leslie Sansone videos in my soft feet so as not to disturb the neighbors downstairs. Good for you for demanding the best for yourself--there's no other way to complete a marathon I don't think, or at least not to keep it up if you don't protect your feet. Top of the line is always the best. Congratulations on your purchase! All the best, Emmy :))

I also vote for comfort!! You could also put gray shoelaces in them and it would tone down the color if you wanted. Congrats on wearing out your shoes!

Like a pair of good jeans, everybody has a designer/brand that works well for their body. Stick with it when you find one! I like my Rykas. For jeans, I love Gloria Vanderbilts and LEI. My kids love some other brand that I can't think of right now.

I don't think they are that ugly. Maybe that says something about my taste? emoticon

I go with comfort over looks every time with running/walking shoes! Love the mapping app for the phones, I use RunKeeper on my iPhone.
