and now for something a little different

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Just to change things up a bit, my trainer organized a night hike last night. I didn't think I would like it- basing this off of accidentally getting caught on a trail after the sun went down 13 years ago. We were very unprepared and it got darker than dark outside. This was on one of my first dates with the Walrus. The only thing that saved us was my little Aly dog. She was an American Eskimo and her white fur and her keen sniffer led us back to the car.

Last night got pretty dark, no moon and overcast, but most had headlamps and the boy and I had our LED flashlights with us, oh, and a different white doggie (Maggie) to lead the way. We had a blast.

I'd like our next one to be on a clear night with a full moon and no artificial light.

Full moon walks are great!!! When I was much, much younger and we lived on a farm with a pond we would ice skate on nights of full moon. With all the snow reflecting the moonlight it was almost bright as day.

emoticon I love night hikes that are well planned out in advanced, with a map or a specific trail that is well known.
