Planting daffodils

Monday, October 28, 2013

Today, we planted 90 daffodil bulbs right outside our kitchen window. I'm looking forward to enjoying them in the spring.

Jim did the hard work....digging up the old bed and digging trenches. I did the fun stuff....putting the bulbs in the trenches and covering them back up with loose dirt. How lucky am I!!

We have lots of tulips to plant in the front flower beds. That will be for another day.

Looking forward to pictures. Years ago, I brought daffodil bulbs from my MIL in Bryson City, NC and planted them in my mother's front yard in Gainesville, FL. they bloomed for years. My Mom did not believe they would grow in FL.

how lovely. that's what i love about gardening - the eternal optimism and hope, looking to the future.
we bought lots of different bulbs in the flower market in Amsterdam, so will have to get busy soon.
enjoy the good feelings of working with the earth and later the fruits of your labour!

That's really cool. I'm so glad for two reasons:

1. You're going to have some beautiful flowers in the spring.
2. You're feeling well enough to play in the dirt!

I love daffodils. I haven't seen tulips in a yard in a long time. I've seen the buds, but the deer eat them and we never see the flowers.

Oh, that will be SO pretty in the Spring! Daffodils are so cheerful - they do make the heart dance.

Tulips do, too...but around here, tulips are rabbit food. /sigh

A little garden exercise is always good!
Serves two purposes, exercise, and improves the garden!
Well done!
