I decided to weed out my blog entries and begin again. I've done this so many times, it is insane. This time I'm trying to take it slowly so that maybe I'll be able to keep it up.
I do have a goal in mind. My boyfriend is coming to see me in January (he lives in another state) so I plan to have lost at least 18 lbs by then (if not more). I'm hoping I can lose that much considering it is the holiday season but I hope to keep my holiday eating under control as an incentive to lose as much as I can before my boyfriend gets here.
I began reading two books today: The Spark Solution and Wheat Belly. Both of them are very eye opening. I've read a lot of things about Wheat Belly and how controversial it is but in my past I've found that a lot of what it is saying is true for me. I genuinely feel better when I don't eat wheat and I feel like I look less bloated. My joints also hurt less and I am not as lethargic. The Spark Solution is also a good read. I'm finding that it's hard to keep on the page for the day because I want to keep reading (unfortunately I have the Kindle version and it's hard to flip back to the page you stopped on). I got both books on amazon for a total of 14 dollars which was awesome.
I decided that--since in my past--eating wheat has hurt me a lot that I would stop eating it again. I know the first few days are going to be ridiculously difficult but I am really determined now to do it. I have a goal in mind. I realize that when I stop eating wheat right away I'll see a weight loss, albeit water loss from my inflamed joints and waterlogged body in general. However, after that I can count on weight loss that is true.
I also decided that I am going to work towards getting off of sugar. I am eating ridiculous amounts of sugar right now and it's out of control. I need to get back to eating less processed sugars and focus on getting more natural sugars when I do have a sugar craving.
I know that to help me out on this journey I need to drink a ton of water and I'm planning on starting with 80 oz a day. I'm hoping to get at least half of that in by the end of my work day (2:30 pm). It's very easy for me to get water in at home but it's hard to keep hydrated at work since it's hard to carry a water bottle around with me (I'm a teacher).
So to sum it up:
My goal: To have lost 18 lbs by the very end of January. (From 279 lbs - 261 lbs).
New things I am implementing:
Diet: 10 glasses of water a day (or 80 oz since I use a 20 oz bottle), as little wheat as possible, and try to wean myself off processed sugars (using only raw honey and maple syrup if I need to sweeten something).
Exercise: Walking an hour 2 days a week, other cardio 2 days a week and strength training 3 days a week.
Other: I plan to blog weekly to update my weight and progress so I can keep track of what I am doing. I'm hoping it'll keep me more accountable. This will also count as my weekly update blog for Biggest Loser Challenge 20 which is starting next week.
