WHAT IS HAPPINESS?

Monday, October 28, 2013

I think you have to have been loved,
or have self love to be happy.
I don't see happiness as a goal,
I think it's a state of mind.
There is a difference with saying you want to find happiness,
as opposed to saying I am happy,
but want to share it with someone.
I don't think you can go out and try to find happiness.
It isn't something that is concrete, but abstract.
Although happiness can be achieved,
when something makes you feel good.
It is a feeling of contentment,
and being at peace with oneself.
It is like being at rest for the soul.
Taking that pause in life,
having an ah ha moment for your spirit.

Feeling content with the emptiness that makes you feel so full,
And being happy in spite of it!

Happiness is always a choice. There will always be things that aren't perfect, but it is how you choose to respond to them can mean the difference between being happy and unhappy.

SHORTSTORY2 :Yes, happiness is an illusive thing. I really struggle with my lack of feeling. Not sure if it is my antidepressants that have taken away my emotions, but I'm pretty emotionally numb most of the time ; ( I tend to be either happy or not happy. Mood swings are my constant companion it seems. Not bi-polar so not sure what is going on. The most frustrating part for me is that I don't have any emotions when I pray. I feel like my words are coming back at me. I know God hears and our faith does not depend on how we feel. Good thing!!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm sure there are many who feel the same, but can't put it into words. Eileen

Very thought provoking blog. Consider these greeting when unexpectedly meeting someone you know.

    Nice to see you....
    Good to see you...
    Glad to see you...
    Great to see you...
    Happy to see you...

Does each phrase have the same meaning, the same emotional impact?
I think that the answers will vary widely depending on the individuals.

Eva, I enjoy your blogs so much because they always provide mental exercise for me.
They are never one size fits all. Keep it up!

I wish you happiness and joy, but most of all I wish you peace and God's love.

Personal happiness is elusive and never lasts. The only true lasting happiness is Peace of Mind.

i have always felt that happiness is a decision. you are as happy as you decide to be. decide to be happy and after a while, it gets to be a habit.

Great observation. There is also a difference between being happy and experiencing joy.
