Paying Attention after Eating Oatmeal for Breakfast
Sunday, October 27, 2013
I had 1/2 cup of oatmeal this morning, with some flax seeds and one cup of skim milk in a non fat latte. The longer I log my food and participate in SP, the more I find that I am surely on the road of paying attention to my body. I have chosen oatmeal for breakfast more frequently lately and I recently found these quick and easy packets of rolled oats and flax seed -- no additives. They come in single serving packs and are microwavable for 2 minutes. Easy. Filling. Healthy.
I was sitting in church and paying attention and began to focus on how very good my body felt an hour or so after eating this oatmeal. I was sated. For lack of a better way of saying it -- my body felt so very good. I thought about how much this specific food felt good in my body and how this was the right amount. And that I need to pay attention to all that I eat....that it would be a wonderful thing if I could tailor my eating to feel this way all the time.
So far I know about non fat Greek yogurt and banana with cinnamon. And lentil soup. And eggplant, like in Ratatouille, with rice. I like to add cheese, but I think that perhaps cheese leaves me feeling not quite as good. I'll have to experiment and see.
I have so far to go -- down 30 and probably 110 to go. But I am here. And I am learning. And I am taking positive steps in very good Spark company.
