I live really close to an amazing thrift store. I've found at least three skirts for super cheap, and some office and school supplies for practically nothing. But the best part about living so close is that it's really easy to de-clutter our little apartment and keep only what we really love. I don't have to keep things around until it's "worth it" to take a trip to donate a bag. I can donate a bag on the way to the bank! I took a bag today, and I have another one started. I throw things in it as I clean. It's a great system.
Today was a really good day. I was observed by my school's branch director and a member of the board, and they both loved my lessons. As much as I tell myself I'm a good music teacher, it's still nice to hear it from someone else. I think a good observation is what I needed - I haven't gotten any feedback since I lost my job, and it kind of was getting me down. So I feel a lot better - rejuvenated and excited to keep improving and learning.
Ran some errands this afternoon and went to a fall festival where I saw lots of dogs in costumes. I love the city. They were at least three dog costume contests going on in Philly today! I went on a hunt for gummy worms for a Sunday school lesson tomorrow - who knew it would be so difficult to find them! But I'm ready to go and I think the kids are really going to enjoy the lesson tomorrow.
I started volunteering at a no-kill shelter in the city - it's called PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) and it's SOOOOO wonderful. I have been going into the adoption center and taking care of the kitties - cleaning out their houses in the morning, feeding and watering them, and doing housekeeping stuff like dishes and laundry. I feel so amazing when I'm done.
Tonight I treated myself to some new music. I haven't bought music for a really long time, and I was due for some new stuff. I like Spotify, but I also like having my own music. I'm chilling to some Live Gospel from The Grand Ole' Opry and enjoying some Chianti. It's a great night.
