Waring 11K Halloween Walk

Saturday, October 26, 2013

The Hill Country Volkssportsverein hosted two Halloween walks at Waring, an unincorporated community, eight miles southwest of Comfort, TX. Founded in 1887 the community was originally called Waringford. The name was changed to just Waring in 1901.

The route I did was called “Big Joshua” and it follows a lightly traveled paved county road. We crossed Big Joshua Creek three times before returning to the start along the same county road.

The walk started at the Volunteer Fire Dept.

We went past the General Store.

Past the Historic Schoolhouse with its outdoor waterpump. The school closed in 1954.

The country roads were beautiful.

And so was Big Joshua Creek.

    Great photos. Love the gas-station.

We are in to the time of year when there are few events. I will enjoy seeing your blogs in between.
