For years, I lived in a life where daily pressures, stresses, influences and expectations of others, pushed me into a space that was not me. Often I felt like a frog in a blender.
When I signed up with SparkPeople last year, I was thrilled to see the importance placed on self-care . . . it was a new concept for me . . . but I liked it.
Not only did I begin focusing on my food and activities, I began sorting out the mental trash, stuff that hadn't been processed, filed or tossed. Some of that earlier programming was hard to shed but once I realized those things were not who I am or want to be, I moved them from the 'too hard basket' and put them in the 'discard' box.
Several times that 'discard' box has been emptied (on the burn pile or in the woodstove).
Shedding the pounds and shedding the baggage has left me with a peaceful easy feeling.
Sometimes I think we get so focused on losing weight that we neglect the other things in our lives (baggage) that might be holding us back.
Take time to enjoy the journey.
