Happy at work

Saturday, October 26, 2013

Work continues to go well. We have lost 2 relatively new nurses both quitting without notice. I think this is because the work load is very full, and if your are a smoker there is no time to smoke or take breaks, or lunch. But that is ok with me because I don't smoke and I like to be busy because it makes the time go faster. Also the workload dictates that you will most likely have to stay at least an hour to finish paperwork. It seems that they are happy to pay you whatever time you need to stay over to finish just so long as you finish. I can see how someone might really want to leave right on time. So, in other words, this job is not for everyone. I think that my bosses are very fair, last night I had an admit and emergent situations with resident that dictated I stay about 3 hour over and my bosses didn't even blink an eye. Of course, I I would not want to stay over that much everyday but as long as they pay me for it I don't mind. I have been at places where if you stay over 5 mins you get a warning slip so they don't have to pay you. Even though the work is tough I like it there because I feel like I am making a difference and giving quality care. And my bosses treat me well and that is all I need. Cheers, Keith

PS: My workplace also goes out of it's way to make sure I don't have to work day back to back. Which I really appreciate.

This sounds like the perfect match! I'm happy for you! At last you have found someone who has the same values as you and is willing to pay you for it. As it should be -- but sadly this is quite unique!

I am glad to hear that it is finally working for all concerned; the patients, the employer AND you!
