Still Chugging Along

Do you ever "hit a new low", only to get back on the scale secretly terrified that you've regained 6 pounds and the new low is elusively gone again?

I KNOW it's just a number, BUT! Anyway, I got on the scale this morning and all is good! WHEW. emoticon emoticon

I'm doing well resisting all the Halloween sweets that have appeared EVERYWHERE. It's overwhelming, isn't it? But I tell myself that there will be plenty of other opportunities to eat these things later, I'm just CHOOSING NOT TO INDULGE NOW. It's self-talk that works for me! I'm not feeling deprived, I'm in control, making MY decision to stay firmly on my path.

Actually, I'm proud of myself for resisting all the marketing hype.

Today the revolving Saturday class at the fitness center is Cardio Pump with one of my favorite (although not easy) instructors, so I'll be doing that plus 45 minutes on the elliptical. Then I'll be starting on a long list of Saturday chores and errands.

Hope you all have a great day today, and don't let the displays of iced cookies (180 calories EACH) in the front of the store entice you! You are stronger than your cravings. As Dr. Beck says, "Exercise your resistance muscle, not your giving-in muscle!"

I just read your blog on getting to 144 and I am so happy for you! You really kicked it into gear this year and set an example for all of us (and especially me) to follow!

Here's to even more success for the rest of 2013 and hoping you have great trips planned in 2014!

Oh and thanks for the tip on Fitbit - I have not been ducking you because you are not "smoking me" although I have to admit I seldom actually beat you but the years not done yet!

    I like that resistance muscle. That is a great image. Good for you keeping that weight loss off. I was also scared this am that the two pounds I had lost would reappear. They stayed off as well. Great job on healthy eating.

    Choose health! There will be plenty of cookies later and I'm choosing to not to indulge in them now. It was a great shift for me to realize that holiday treats can be skipped, maybe I'll get them next time. I used to waste a lot of calories on stuff just because it was something "special" for the holiday.

    Store bought cookies never tempt me. Homemade is a different story but I have no need to make them. Love the willpower muscle!

    Glad to see that you are maintaining that loss. Class plus 45 minutes on the elliptical is awesome!. I have kind of forgotten about the elliptical since I became more consistent with walking and other classes. But your blog is making me think that I should pack those earphones and add it back in AFTER my main aerobic exercise.

    I have to exercise that resistance muscle today! Traveling to Tacoma for my brother-in-law"s birthday celebration. Good thing I'll get my workout in before we leave.
