"I'm proud of you"

Friday, October 25, 2013

Four little words. Four powerful words. Four words I don't remember my parents every saying to me, although there were certainly moments worthy of such words. I know my dad has never said it and I don't remember my mom ever saying it to me either.

Today I was visiting my mom. She said it! She said she could tell I've lost a lot of weight. Then she said "I'm proud of you".

Like you, I never heard those words either and now I know how much it really matters to hear them. Wonderful to know you heard them!
Congratulations on your hard work to get to this point and I too am very proud of you!

emoticon It's amazing how wonderful it makes us feel, to get that validation. And how awful it is, not to. Especially from our parents. A good lesson for us all, on how to treat people (especially our kids).

Penny, I never heard those words (or "I love you") from anyone growing up. I use those words now whenever and wherever possible and frequently they are reflected back to me. So I say to you, "I'M PROUD OF YOU." KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. emoticon Roberta
