Turning into Monk

Friday, October 25, 2013

Notice that I said Monk as in Adrian Monk, the detective, not a monk. We're headed into that cold/flu season that is dreaded by those of us with weak immune systems everywhere. I am just getting over a killer cold. The rest of my family got this cold and spent a couple of days with sniffles curled up with blankets on the couch. I got the cold and have been in true misery. I had to move my endoscopy appointment to next week because of it. I am afraid that I'm going to get something else before the appointment and will have to move it again.

So. . . I am now armed with disinfectant wipes and am wiping down all surfaces. My keyboard has never been so clean. And neither have the light switches. I'm washing my hands before I eat and after the bathroom as I always do, but also every time I come back home and after touching anything that hadn't been disinfected yet. I am using the wipes that they have by the grocery store door to disinfect the cart handles before I touch them. Today I'm going to bleach the toothbrushes in a bleach solution. I briefly thought about getting a mask to wear over my nose and mouth but I am well known in my small city. I would have tons of people coming up to me to ask me what was wrong. "No, get away! Don't come near me!" That might be misinterpreted. . .

My son just came over to say "Good morning". He sneezed. I don't think he was prepared to be shoved backward while I yelled "Get away from me!" Does anyone have a wipe?

Every time I wash the dishes or clean the kitchen, I wipe every door handle and toilet handle in the house. Your steering wheel and drawer pulls are major germ homes,,

Remember, if you do not put the lid down when you flush the toilet, millions of particles from the INSIDE OF YOUR TOILET spew up to 12 feet in all directions on everything,,(towels, toothbrushes, handles, TP, windowsills, shower curtain, floor, etc.
You are not paranoid, just health-conscious.

Yes this is the beginning of that dreaded cold and flu season that nobody likes; and even more so with all of us with weak immune systems. Your know your town best, I think I too would say th same if I was still living in the small town I grew up in. My sister lives in that area yet and she has worn those over the mouth and nose masks plenty with all the allergies and a comprimised immune system. She is braver than I, can't get myself to wear one regularly. I tried it a few times and never like the feeling when out in the cold. Will remember you in my prayers for you to get and stay healthy--- so you can get that pocedure done.
