Since Charles Schultz first aired his television special, “It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”, I have followed the example of Linus and celebrated Halloween with a Great Pumpkin sense of humor. When my daughter was born she also fell in love with a Charlie Brown-style Halloween. Each year we watch the show again and congratulate ourselves on the fact that no matter what else has happened to us during the year at least we did not receive rocks in our trick-or-treat sack.
Poor Charlie Brown. At least he doesn't have to worry about eating too many sweets.
The "Peanuts Book of Pumpkin Carols" also came out in the 1960's. I was teaching music and my classes loved singing them. I actually have a copy of the original booklet of songs.
Each year we enjoy getting it out and singing along with all the others around the world who are waiting in a pumpkin patch hoping that this year theirs will be the most sincere.
May you have fun and remember that finding joy with friends and family makes Halloween a treat.
