Allergies, recovery, and another swim lesson

So, the sneezies and the scratchy throat, plus a Wednesday packed with meetings led me to call the blood bank Tuesday morning and reschedule to NEXT week... "just in case" it might be something more than allergies. Then I wimped out and went home from work at noon on Tuesday. Pulled up my big girl undies and went and survived the round of meetings on Wednesday, drugged up on antihistamines. I think coming home Tuesday was pro-active survival for Wednesday for which the work agenda looked markedly more important on my priority list.

During that Tuesday afternoon I napped. My quads finally forgave me their punishment on Sunday sometime between yesterday and today. And I went to bed promptly every night this week so far. Last night I poohed out while the Red Sox were ahead 5-0 in Game 1 of the World Series.

One thing I love about this time of year is pulling the blankets out of the closet and snuggling under a weightier set of bedding. I'm warm and cozy and the sleep is marvelous.

Today I started feeling really more myself... and I went to my swim lesson rested. Swam a whole lot better. Tonight we did exercises intending to increase lung power: swim the length of the pool in as few breaths as possible. I went from 5 and 5, to 5 and 4, to 4 and 4 during the course of the lesson. The usual Tarzan, catch-up, and fingertip drag drills. The arms behaved a whole lot better, too... no more lead/flat entry into the water.

So while LIFE has its ups and downs... it is GOOD. And I'm headed off for more of that wonderful restful, blanketed sleep! emoticon May you all be safe, warm, and well! Namaste. emoticon

    As you have told me many times during training.....if you need a couple days off to recharge -- do it!

    Just got all my snuggly blankets out the other day!

    You are much more enthusiastic about swim lessons than I ever was. What is your secret? I'm girding myself for more personal coaching this spring. Until then, I'm going to work on building up my lung capacity. Maybe. If I can get myself into the pool.
