My First X-Bike (Spin) Class

It was cold and nasty this morning when I left work. I was tired, and honestly just wants to go home, turn on my electric blanket and snuggle in bed. Then I remembered earlier in the week, I got the brilliant idea to sign up for a 6:00 am X-Bike class. (X-bike is my gym's version of spinning. Anyway, I got changed and left work in the cold and rain to head to the gym. I walked into the studio and was happy to see a lot of the people from my gym's PC Fit class. One of my classmates (Jane) helped me get my bike set up, and Phyllis (the instructor) gave me a quick rundown, and told me just to focus on getting familiar with the equipment, and I need not worry about standing and doing everything for this workout. She told me it would take a few times for me to catch on.

I sat front and center so I could see everything she was doing. As we went along, it felt a lot like my bike. I took the warm up period to play around a little bit, and honestly after the warm up I was pretty comfortable with it.

I got right into it. I found that it was a lot like trail riding. I got an awesome workout! By the time class was done, my legs burned and I was literally drenched in sweat. It was awesome! I think I have found yet another addiction at the gym!

I am going to have to do a little juggling, and maybe even take a PC Fit and an X-bike class in the same day (hours apart) but I would really like to add a class or two a week. It is a great total body workout, and I think it will really help me with my cardio endurance.

I am in the best shape of my life, I live a very healthy, active lifestyle and they worry about me?
*sigh*
I don't think she gets it. I am not sure exactly how I am going to "get sick" from working out, eating clean and being active... I would think I would have "gotten sick" from being an overweight smoker?

I love my Grandmother, I really, truly do, but I wish that she would understand that this is good for me!

    Great job on that class! Man how I envy your enjoyment of physical activity!

    I feel ya on the grandmother. No matter what I do, she's always "worried" about me. Whether I'm being healthy or smoking 2 packs a day. I have almost mastered the "In one ear and out the other" method of having conversations with her. It's helpful.

    I just started working at a gym and this is maybe my next step... we call it just "Cycling" or "Super Cycle" (which is even worse evidently) and people come out of there SO drenched, it's unreal. Good job!

    I love spin class when I am able to go, even though it is a crazy, intense, leave-your-legs-burning workout! You know you got in a good workout in that class! Sorry about your grandma! I could write a book on loving, but crazy and sometimes distracting Grandma comments. You are so not alone! BTW you look fabulous! Your hard work has paid off! emoticon

    It could be that she worries about too much weight loss and unhealthy eating disorders. If you are eating healthy and exercising and not underweight, you are doing good. Keep up the good work and maybe explain to her what you are doing.
