Boosting a slow metabolism

Thursday, October 24, 2013

I remember being a teenager and asking my Dad, a busy MD who was always between 40 and 100 lbs. overweight, how to get fit and stay at the right weight. He knew I was asking for myself and not trying to needle him, but his reply was a little discouraging. He said "Well, the first thing you need to do is have the right genetics..." He said a few other things after that, but I don't think I even heard any of it, because in one minute of conversation he had completely convinced me I was doomed for life by a slow metabolism.

This blog post from Krista Stryker of the 12-Minute Athlete says otherwise, and I cannot wait to try some of these tips for boosting a slow metabolism. I'd heard of some of these recommendations before, but had never heard about drinking 16 oz of ice water in the morning, or drinking lemon water, or the effects of exposure to the cold. I am excited to see how some of these tips might work in conjunction with exercise and healthy eating.

Here's the (new, corrected) link:

Sounds interesting. I had never hear any of those things. I just exercise, and eat right, and it seems to be working.

Hmm, OK, thank you for letting me know. I'll try re-entering the link, but am wondering if maybe it's because the blog was sent to me as a subscriber to 12-Minute Athlete. My tech skills may not be up to this...

Update: I found another version of the same post and have added the new link. Hope it works!

Been drinking lemon water for a while now. Not sure this works but then again...maybe it does and i don't know it. Tried using the link provided and got no where. Not sure i want to try being exposed to cold.
If you find any info that works, let me/us know.
