I am now the smallest person in my family.
My family is one of those types that obsess about weight maybe just a tad too much for it to be normal. Weight comes up in almost every conversation. Last night they went out to eat without me for my mom's birthday dinner. Afterward they stopped by my house so I could give my mom her birthday present (this really pretty opal necklace surrounded by sapphires).
Of course the first thing out of my dad's mouth is "AHHH! Poor daughter, you're disappearing. It's so sad!!". This is the same man who told me I was too fat to eat 3 months ago. Can't win. Naturally after that we talked about weight for an hour. In the Russian community, being thin is very important. They also get really snooty if you speak in English. You can see why I avoid these people at all costs. But ya know, my mom needs it. My family noticed my little at home body fat measuring tool. I wouldn't say it's totally accurate because my readings are different at Medifast. Everyone had to put in their height and weight.
My brother wanted to go first because he's been bulking up for his endurance events. He's always been the athlete in the family. He's also the math genius with an engineering degree so it's an odd mix. He stood 5'10 and 177 lbs.
My dad went next and he's 6'1 and 270 lbs. After seeing the result he vowed to stop overeating at night and to turn his life around. Five minutes later he was talking about getting drunk later.
Mom went last at 5'4 and 180 lbs. I told her about cooking spaghetti squash to replace pasta. She'll give it a try.
Maybe I am a wave that causes ripples around me. First my boss and her gym membership. And now my family wants to be healthier as well. Why not? We can all be the best that we can be if we put some dedication into it.
BONUS: I weigh less than my husband finally!!!!
I'm slowly gaining my strength back from being sick this past week. I can't wait to exercise again. Thinking of how close I am to the 130s pumps me up so much that I just want to sweat till I drop. ALMOST THERE.
61 days to go!
