Food is wonderful without the junky grains

Back in August, I was still going full blast on the grains with all-you-can-eat pizza and donuts weekend. If you had told me that I'll be making and eating fresh green salad everyday, I'd have laughed my head off. I'm still eating some oatmeal that I have in the freezer, but I'm getting close to finish them off. Other than that, I don't have any grain in my diet. Here are pics of my brunch. It's my first meal of the day. I think it helps to reduce the number of hours you will be eating. We all have heard the benefits of Omega 3 fish oil. Sure take the oil cap is better than nothing. Better yet, eat the real fish. The articles all said the same, eat wild caught salmon. Well, it can get very expensive doing that. My solution is the Mackerel. Indian Mackerel to be exact. As they are smaller and eat plankton's for food, their mercury levels are low. They are also very cheap, but you have to know how to handle the small fish bones. It costs about 90 cents a fish. That's what I have with my salad.

Another new activity for me beside making fresh salad everyday is the beets. I've never cooked them before in my life. Much to my surprise, I found that I really enjoy them. It turns the salad all reddish. LOL. The dressing I used is rice vinegar and sesame oil.

    Looks good to me. We can't get fresh mackerel here in Kansas, but we do get fresh trout. And beets - love 'em. Roast them all the time!! I haven't had grains in forever - except as you saw on my Blog I keep stumbling over "new grain" information - and I never feel sick or bloated anymore.

    You are so right! The fresh food source is always superior to taking a pill/supplement.

    That looks so good!
I know that wheat doesn't agree with me and since cutting it out (for the most - the odd "treat") I feel so much better. I still eat brown rice on occasion..
