So it's been an awful week. I've been very down in the dumps and feeling very out of sorts. Mad, annoyed and just all around disheartened because of a few people who just like to kick you when you're down.
Happy to say I had my first proper belly laugh for the first time in a long time today. I spent the day with my nephew. His mom is out of the country and his dad was working so I took him for a haircut, had lunch and just hung out all afternoon. It was fun.
I will admit to avoiding the usual place I have my hair done because I didn't want to hear another round of, "Oh, look how fat you've gotten!" I don't think I would have been able to handle it.
After my nephew took off after dinner (which was a yummy salad with homemade vinaigrette), I tackled my plank for the squat challenge; 3 mins (Ow. Very ow) and rest for everything else. But I realize now that doing the plank first may be a good idea. Will have to remember that tomorrow.
Also did day 4 of the bootcamp workout -- standing ab exercises, yay! And a lovely 50 min yoga session. It felt awesome! Then to add a bit, I've decided I'll follow along to a 12-min stretch video to get into the splits. It's been a number of years since I could get all the way to the floor, so I figure with the squats, I'll need to put more effort than just little stretches afterwards if I don't want to be sore. Adding it to my little set of mini-challenges.
In the direction of mini-challenges, my crow pose is slowly coming along. I've been practicing putting all my weight on my arms. I can't quite lift my feet up yet, but I'm on my tippy toes so that should be most of my weight on my arms. I can lift one foot at a time like they explained in the tutorial so hopefully I'm strengthening the right muscles at the very least. I had my sister take a picture. I do realize it's far from attractive, so I do apologize, but I believe I should keep some record of the progress
Hopefully I'll be able to post pics of the proper pose soon as well as a pic down in full splits. Slow and steady. I'll tackle it one to two things at a time.
