Day 4 CCC. Veggie Smoothie vs. Juicing.

Thursday, October 24, 2013

Two separate topics. This is day 4 of my calorie correction course and I've made all the right choices to get started losing the lbs I've gained this year. (detailed a few blogs ago)

I've also been thinking of changing to veggie smoothies as juicing loses so much of the vegetables. I'm exploring recipes online.

Have a good day.

I have a basic recipe that I vary the ingredients:
almond milk
bunch of spinach or kale
fruit(s)of choice(fresh/frozen)
banana
b
ig splash or two of apple cider vinegar
Smaller splash of vanilla

I have also started adding Maca powder and a vegan protein powder, I did a lot of fresh seasonal, right now I am stocked with peach, mango and raspberry so I can play with those options.
Enjoy.

I'm glad things are going good on the CCC. I like both vegetable smoothies and juices. I'm just trying to get in a very large amount of phytonutrients in each day so the juices work best for that. I think they are both good ways of getting veggies....it just depends on what you are after.

I try to have a nice green smoothie every day or two- for lunch or a post-workout snack.
I use a cup of diet cranberry juice (pretty much the only artificial sweetener I use),
a blender full of baby spinach,
some frozen berries,
1/2 c plain Greek yogurt
and a big splash of pasteurized egg whites.
sometimes add 1/2 bananananana, if I'm low on calories that day.
Yummy, and about 20 grams of protein and about 200 calories.

I like a good savory smoothie once and awhile, very satisfying.

Sounds like you are on plan.

I'm not a juicing/smoothie person and my doctor doesn't like them either so I can't be any help. I hope you can find some that work for you.

I love the recipes on juicemaster.com. I run it all through my blender so that I get all the fiber and pulp. Works and tastes great!

Smoothies are wonderful. Be certain to eat plenty of fruit. It isn't so important as to how many calories as it is where the calories come from.
